Briana Fiore is a Multi-platform Reporter, Photo and Video journalist working across digital, radio, television and social platforms for ABC News in Australia. She won a Young Walkley Award in 2021 for exposing how the "toxic culture" at a major hospital was impacting patient care following the death of a mother in child birth. She was nominated for a second Young Australian Journalist of the Year Walkley Award in 2024 for a series investigating how the Jehovah’s Witnesses were still dealing with abuse cases behind closed doors following the royal commission, how student homelessness was impacting access to education and how rural bushfire survivors were not qualifying for government assistance. She’s the ABC’s 2025 Andrew Olle scholar.

She's won or been nominated for more than a dozen journalism accolades for her feature writing, investigations, visuals and broadcast work that she shot, edited, wrote, photographed and produced from start to finish as a mostly solo multi-platform operator.

She began her career at a regional newspaper before becoming a State Political and Health Reporter in Perth during the COVID-19 pandemic. She then worked with ABC Great Southern in Albany before joining ABC Adelaide. Briana enjoys social affairs, politics, investigations, human interest stories and sport.

She’s covered the FIFA 2023 Women’s World Cup, local government election fraud, how deadly legionella bacteria was linked to hospital patient deaths, the Jehovah’s Witnesses handling of abuse, the Catholic Church’s dealings with suicide, skimpies survival post #Me Too, refugee resettlement, how a former SAS soldier started free boxing clubs for at-risk youth after losing his son to an overdose, the AFL’s prestigious Dreamtime match and much more.
